Polyamide, commonly known as nylon, ranks the first place in the output of engineering plastics in China. And yet the market of high performance modified nylon used in the production of peripheral parts near the automotive engine is dominated by multinational corporations like Dupont, BASF, DSM, Lanxess, and Rhodia.

In a recently released market study, Global Nylon fibers and feedstocks, IHS Chemical mentioned that the first quarter European demand for fiber nylons grew by 2-4% over last year. Of which South Europe enjoyed a higher 3-5% growth. The first quarter demand for all end use applications grew, driven by a bullish automotive market. In recent years, the automotive industry has higher interest in energy savings and safety improvement. Nylon materials with the high performance in oil and heat resistance, vibration tolerance, sound insulation and self-extinguishing property have gained great acceptance. In addition, the higher integration of electronic circuit, nylons with better heat performance are in stronger demand in the electronic connector market. These nylon materials of high temperature performance are entering the automotive engine and parts market and gaining firm foothold in many leading auto brands.
